Description
Limited edition signed etching showing the grand east portico of the Old Ashmolean, and also the adjacent archway to the back door, during the period between the Ashmolean Museum's removal and the foundation of the Museum of the History of Science (and thus before any restoration work). Originally entitled 'A Doorway of the Ashmolean, Oxford', this was no.11 in the set of 12 etchings of Oxford which Howarth issued in 1909, in a limited signed edition of 100 (the plate then being destroyed).
