Description
Gelatine print. Candid portrait of James Bellamy, seated nearly full length, looking to right and holding a closed umbrella, seen from a low angle. He is on a wooden seat out of doors, presumably on the occasion of the college picnic in Bagley Wood, near Oxford, as in the companion photographs 79311 and 93919. All three are candid photographs, early examples of snapshots. Vertical format.
James Bellamy, DD (1819-1909) was President of St John's College, Oxford, 1871-1909. How the photographs came to the Museum is not known.
