Description
Albumen print (?or sepia toned early gelatine print) mounted on card, a carte de visite mounted on a blank cabinet format card for insertion into an album. Portrait of Andrew C. de la C. Crommelin, head and shoulders, turned to left, vignetted. Crommelin graduated at Cambridge, where the photograph was taken, in 1886, and became an assistant at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, in 1891.
Formerly contained in H. H. Turner's album of cabinet format portraits of Royal Observatory staff and other astronomers (13001), now empty. For a list of other photographs not in this album see narratives.
