Description
Collotype (or similar photomechanical reproduction), from a photograph, probably a self-portrait. Teasdale is shown approximately half length, seated at his desk, facing front, posed as if writing. Items on the desk include a sundial, and a microscope is behind him to the right. He is wearing a velvet jacket.
The society he was president of (in the caption) was probably Leeds Astronomical Society. The photograph on a printed sheet was evidently produced for the society, either at the end of his presidency or at the time of his death in 1903.
For fuller descriptive and historical commentary see narratives.
