Description

A copper alloy, steel and plastic microspectroscope. Instrument has a central barrel with prism held beneath eyepiece at one end. A secondary barrel with mirror held over end extends at right angle from prism end. Two clasps are attached to side of barrel, a mirror on a hinged arm attaches between clasps. Barrel itself opens along a central hinge to allow access to prism (.1).

Instrument is stored in a square wooden case with metal clasps and hinges. The case has a red velvet interior and a terracotta coloured leather exterior. The words 'Mikrospectroskop. E. Leitz. Wetzlar' are stamped in gold lettering on the top of the box (.2).
