Description

Two simple hand held microscopes of different sizes. One is in black-painted wooden box. The other has a ivory handle and is missing forceps and a case. The larger microscope features two folding arms mounted via hinges to either side of a rectangular stage. The arms hold a simple lens in circular copper alloy housing and a turned ivory handle. A screw with a central aperture tightens to hold the stage clasp flat against the stage plate. The smaller microscope is of a similar construction, featuring two folding arms mounted via hinges to either side of a rectangular stage with tightening screw. The arms hold a simple lens and a copper alloy handle.

The smaller microscope is stored in a black painted wooden box with two swing clasps. The interior of the box is lined with green felt. Also stored in the box is are pair of stage forceps.
