Description
Standard 3¼" x 3¼" glass magic lantern slide size, gummed slide bindings, finely painted by H. M. J. Underhill of Oxford, slide contained in a small tinned box.
The image depicts an "arhat", or enlightened person, in a tranquil setting. The kneeling figure has a shaved head, a large gold earring and red, blue and gold robes draped over the left half of his upper body. There is a large halo behind his head and shoulders and in the background there are rocks, trees, a waterfall and a pool with swirling water.
