Description

Compound microscope by Simons. The instrument has a flat folding tripod foot which holds a pillar with a compass joint to a short arm connecting it to the triangular sectioned limb. A cruciform stage with has two slots and a peg socket for accessories is mounted to the limb. Rackwork is cut in the limb to move the stage for focusing. The body holds four lenses. The lower end of the body has a dovetail slot that takes a slide with six objectives. A dovetail socket on the side of the body attaches it to the top of the limb. A mirror in a horseshoe mount is attached to the lower end of the limb.

The instrument is stored in a fitted wooden case which also contains the following accessories: The accessories are a bull's-eye condenser lens on a stand, a candle holder on an arm, a thick Plano-convex bull's eye lens on a pin, a Lieberkühn and carrier on a pin, a fish plate, a live box, a wet cell, two ivory talc boxes containing mica discs and copper alloy rings, an ivory black and white disk and a square stage with a condenser lens.
