Description

Mullard Audio Output Pentode Radio Valve (or Tube) Type CV1052, in plain cardboard carton. UK military service equivalent of EL32 valve (also made by Mullard) with both using the same international octal base. Glass valve with single steel top cap and black plastic? base. With eight steel base pins and one black plastic? central base pin. One steel base pin missing. Lower part of valve blackened, the lower part of the envelope of this valve type is normally silvered or blackened when new since this is the usual "gettering" which maintains a sufficiently good vacuum within the valve throughout its useful life

The manufacturer name and date of manufacture are identified by codes on the bulb: "D" indicates manufacturer name, in this case Mullard Radio Valve Co. Ltd., and "HC" is year and month of manufacture, "H" = 1945, "C" = March.
