Description
Double cylinder air pump made by noted London instrument maker, Edward Nairne, c. 1780. The pistons were operated by racks on each side of a single pinion connected to a crank.
Mahogany base, 4 turned pillars rise to platform for circular brass plate with brass stopcock ending to copper tube connection to cylinders. Two brass cylinders in shaped wooden frame; two rack bars to be worked by crank, which is missing. Manometer missing.
