- Brief Description
- This fine astrolabe by Abd al-Aimma is characterised by a division of labour between the maker of the instrument and the decorator, both of whom make separate signatures. We can read the name of the maker - Khalil Muhammad ibn Hasan Ali - and the name of the one who 'decorated' the astrolabe - Abd al-Aimma. Khalil Muḥammad collaborated in this way with a number of his contemporaries, chiefly Muhammad Baqir and Abd al-Aimma, who was also a famous astrolabist in his own right.
