Description

A glass lens in a copper alloy ring, with accompanying washers and bolts. There is an inscription around the copper alloy ring, on the back, but this is hard to read.

The lens is in a cardboard box and attached notes reveal that the lens was formerly used for the collimating of a transit telescope and the Radcliffe Observatory at the time Mr Johnson was the Radcliffe Observer. The note inside the box explains the exact location of the lens and refers the reader to the first volumes of the 'Radcliffe Observations'.

The lens was removed on March 8, 1911.
