Description

Rectangular wooden box with a removable wooden lid and an inset wooden board with a hole in the middle.  Inside of the hole, there is a round ceramic basin.  In the centre of the basin, there is a cylindrical metal tin with a removable lid.  The marine chronometers would be placed in the tin, then surrounded by ice in the ceramic basins to test their ability to withstand the cold.
