Description
A transit telescope and micrometre with support in two wooden cases which are in turn each inside leather carrying cases.
The coated metal support has three adjustable stands with a rotating circular base. Mounted on the circular base are two spirit levels, adjusting arms and two support arms to hold the instrument. There is also an eyepiece with a bracket. Inside the wooden case for the support there are wooden supports for the instrument, one of which is removable and holds the instrument in place. The wooden case is inside a leather carrying case with two buckle fastenings and a strap.
The coated metal transit telescope and micrometre is mounted on a metal wheel with two arms and adjustment knobs. There is a spirit level mounted on the opposite side to the telescope. The accessories inside the case are: a spirit level mounted in coated metal with two attachment arms; A weighted level pointer in a metal and glass mount; A weighted metal collar; Two cross-hair lenses, each in a storage can; A circular accessory mounted on a bracket; a lens cap and a mirrored accessory to fit over the lens; and a cross-hatched cylindrical attachment. Inside the wooden case there are wooden supports for the instrument and accessories, some lined with felt. The wooden case is inside a leather carrying case with two buckle fastenings and a leather strap.
