Description
The balance is in a narrow brass case. A label of instructions is pasted in the lid, and the deliberately roughened surface inside the box indicated the original presence of another label.
The style and construction of the balance, and the label typeface and setting, is that of A. Wilkinson, pre 1785. Folding gold balance in brass case are uncommon. The scale is 0-12 in increments of 3.
