Description

Brass beam with swan neck shaped ends and two brass pans suspended by black cords. Wooden box has hinges and hook fastening, red/yellow lining in the base and a weight pen. On the lid are handwritten instructions for medicine dose required by different ages. There are also 20 weights. 5 are circular and stamped with a crown and 'APOTHECARIES WEIGHT / REGISTERED / MARCH 16 1847 / W & T A'. 10 roughly cut square weights stamped with the apothecaries symbol. 3 roughly cut square weights stamped with a lion and 2 stamped with circles.
