Metal Pole, Probably a Lighting Conductor Rod, from the Radcliffe Observatory, Oxford, ?18th Century

Tall metal black painted pole inserted into a wooden pole with a circular wooden base. The pole is flared at the base and sits upon a smaller circlular piece of wood on top of the larger piece of wood. The wood appears to be stained a dark colour.
