Description

Augsburg type in the shape of a pocket watch. When the glass cover is hinged open (as on a watch) it reveals a hinged silvered-brass hour ring which springs open to the correct angle set by means of a "watch winder" and shown on a small silvered dial marked "Elevation du Pole". At the centre of the dial there is a small silvered-brass compass dial, its needle is locked by a pin when the watch cover is closed.
