Description
Albumen print mounted on card with mat, of J. B. Reade, seated full length, half profile to right, holding a book. The mat has curved top corners and a gilt (and green) inner edge. The photo is approximately 8 by 10 inches. Reade was a founding member of the RMS in 1839 and its President in 1869-70, including at the time of his death. This is presumably his presidential photograph, like others with matching mounting ???. Compare to the slightly earlier carte de visite (12035), where his appearance and pose are similar but his hair is not so long. The number 12036 is written on the reverse in pencil.
