Description

Photograph (toned gelatine print, brownish in colour) of the Tintoretto portrait of Galileo; framed and glazed. Frame moulding damaged.

Gabb was an authority on the portraiture of Galileo and a collector of portraits of scientists, so although of little intrinsic worth this attractively framed photograph is an interesting personal item. Companion of 10745.
