Description
Carte de visite (albumen print mounted on card). Portrait of Frederick Henry Elliott, standing three-quarter length, facing front, a curtain and table with books to left. The image is heavily speckled all over, but the effect seems to be part of the image, not deterioration of this photograph, suggesting it is a copy photograph, possibly from a badly spotted daguerreotype. Compare 12626, which is an enlarged section of the same photograph, but with a different and less severe pattern of speckles (and a different photographer's name).
