Description

Original card box with remains of lid bearing the maker's printed label, containing printed compass cards (multiple copies) for Elliott Brothers instruments in two styles: darker green, 3-inch compass diameter, marked 'Elliott Bros. London', and paler green, just under 2½-inch diameter, marked 'Elliott Bros. 101, St. Martin's Lane, London' (with the S of St. reversed); together with two of the former cut circular and mounted on card with central holes, wrapped in a paper bearing a proof of the smaller design and Warrington & Co's. stamp and blind-stamp. The stamp includes a date but it is not clearly legible, possibly 96 or 98; the 101 address was used from about 1896 to 1902.
