Other inscriptions
Written on the inside of the lid of the case is "220 / 12". Written by Lewis Evans on the inside of the base of the case is "199 1/2". Loose inside the case is a typical green Evans tag "399 1/2" as well as a white tag with the final number "G.298".

Description

Decorated octagonal base with central compass (needle and glass missing); on a silver ring is the hour scale 4 - 12 - 8 inscribed "Horizontalis Solis & Lunare" and a scale of the age of the moon "ÆT Luna", and inside is the rotating silver hour scale for the moondial; sprung gnomon arm with latitude adjustable cursor numberred 48, 50, 52 (plummet missing and string snapped); three feet; the silvered underside of the compass bowl carries a list of latitudes as well as Martin's signature. With leather covered case.
