Description
Carte de visite (albumen print mounted on card) of Queen Victoria, standing just over half length, turned to and looking left, slightly vignetted at bottom. Several scuff marks and stains. An early carte de visite, square-cut and with relatively simple printed captions, from the beginning of the fashion about 1860, which was greatly boosted by Queen Victoria's keen participation, both as subject and as a collector of cartes de visite herself.
