Description

Albumen print mounted on paper. Group photograph of the officers or conversazione committee of the Junior Scientific Club, with their distinguished guest Sir Henry Acland and their manservant William Hine. The occasion of the photograph must be the first Robert Boyle Lecture, given by Acland on May 27, 1892 (at 9 pm). Sharing the central position with Acland is Walter Ramsden, president of the club for that (summer or Trinity) term. The group also includes J. E. Marsh and R. T. Gunther, who was probably the source of the photograph.
