Purchased from the Royal Microscopical Society in 1970. Part of the RMS library and manuscript collection. It was acquired after Heron-Allen's death in 1943 by Alfred B. Richards. Bound in this form by Edward Heron-Allen about 1925.

Description

Scrapbook bound in dark red half-leather and dark pink cloth. With Heron-Allen's armorial bookplate dated 1925. Flyleaves + 94 paper leaves, not counting many large papers mounted on guards and between. A huge ensemble of 259 letters and many additional printed notices and other papers, organised chronologically in two sections, with title pages and manuscript introductions (written in 1919), relating to Heron-Allen's election as a Fellow of the Royal Society (in 1919) and to his Presidency of the Royal Microscopical Society (in 1916-17). The material actually dates from 1914 to 1920, together with 2 newspaper cuttings of 1944 and 1945 added by the subsequent owner.
