Description

Five printed trade or visiting cards on paper of Cornelius Varley, in his three roles as artist, inventor, and (as Varley & Son) optical instrument maker, and of Andrew Yeates, in a paper envelope; 2 copies of the Varley & Son card; they are untrimmed, possibly printer's proofs or later impressions. The Varley cards all have their 1 Charles Street address. Varley & Son traded under that name between 1848 and 1854 so the cards are from that period; Andrew Yeates is recorded from 1840 to 1863.
