Presented by Mr Albert E. Adams in 2006 (accessioned in 2009). Used at Combustion Lining Ltd., Stoke-on-Trent, of which the donor was a founder and director.
Primary inscriptions
Dial signed '[symbol] Cambridge | Instrument Co. Ltd. England'. Instruction sheet in case headed 'Instructions for using the Cambridge Disappearing Filament Pyrometer', with company name 'Cambridge Instrument Company, Ltd.', London address, and printer's code ending in /52 [1952].

TEMP NOTE This tag went missing - I've been reluctant to use the number in case I'd put the tag on something & forgotten/failed to note it, but in some weeks nothing's turned up ! TEMP NOTE This object offered to mus 06, chased 07, conserved 09, but app'ly owner never contacted ! acc'd under 2009 because 06 was not possible but its conservation treatment in 09 presumably signals acceptance/ownership

Description

Two optical tubes with central meter. Dial reads from 7 to 14 in hundreds of degrees centigrade. Serial number L307630. With cable, and fitted leather carrying case (poor internal condition). Illustrated instruction sheet inside lid of case (now loose), with printer's code indicating the date 1952.

The instrument was in routine use from the 1950s to the 1990s at Combustion Lining Ltd, a manufacturer of refractory materials in Stoke-on-Trent. Inscription on pyrometer: "Cambridge Instrument Co. Ltd. England No L307630".
