Description
Wooden fragments of small cylindrical pill-boxes, evidently used to store specimens. Some of the pieces carry numbers and one is marked "Knock na Re slego", indicating that it contained a specimen from Knocknarea, a hill to the west of Sligo. This fossil or geological specimen would almost certainly have been collected by Edward Lhwyd when he toured Ireland in 1699.
