Description
Engraved frontispiece to Palmer (ed.) 'The Catholique Planispaer, which Mr Blagrave calleth the Mathematical Jewel' (London, Joseph Moxon, 1658). Depicts woman using the 'Mathematical Jewel' (form of universal stereographic astrolabe) invented by Blagrave. Compass and open book also on table. Top left is a portrait of John Blagrave, and top right, John Palmer.
