The Ambassadors by Holbein. On the left stands Jean de Dinteville, Lord of Polisy; on his breast he wears the French Order of St. Michel. On the right stands George de Selve, Bishop of Lavaur. On the upper shelf are a globe, a closed book, and several astronomical and mathematical instruments.
