Description

copper alloy level in a fitted pine box, with trade label in lid. Elliott Brothers moved to 449 Strand (London) in the autumn of 1863 (until 1886), the citing of earlier addresses (curiously omitting 30 Strand, their address 1858-63) on the trade card suggesting it dates from soon after the move.
