Compound and Simple Microscope with Accessories and Wooden Case, by W. & S. Jones, London, c. 1810

Jones's Most Improved' model of microscope. The folding tripod foot supports a pillar to which is attached a limb by a compass joint. Onto the limb slides the stage and mirror. On top is an arm to fit the body-tube. Six objectives are in a disc. The accessories include a bull's eye with arm and stage forceps. There is also a Martin-type triple stage, circular spring stage, fish plate with green silk ribbon, lens in blacked cup, cone condenser, lens in copper collar, Lieberkühn carrier on a post, three Lieberkühn's of different sizes, objective with a domed cap, tweezers, ivory talc box containing slit rings, mica discs, a glass disc and a blacked ivory disc, the remains of a quill brush, glass phial, glass disc, mica oval for large slider, glass cover for a wet cell and an ivory slide with specimens. The rectangular case is mahogany with large copper alloy handles at each end and two hooks at the front. Inside the case is fitted and sections are lined with blue baize. There is a small copper alloy key for the case.
