Large Stand with Adjustable Top for Telescope(?)

Two-legged A-frame wooden stand with metal fittings. Adjustable top cross bar with a sliding metal component attached. Central metal rod linking the two upper crossbars and passing through a hole in the lower crossbar. A third leg, shorter than the other two and attached to the adjustable portion of the top, runs through out the upper and lower crossbars. A circular copper alloy ring is associated with this item.
