Description
Solar Microscope
Back plate of solar microscope. Features two winged screw-heads used to work racks to rotate and incline the mirror attached to the rear of the back plate. Plate has two holes in opposite corners, used to fix the instrument to a window frame. Hole and screw thread in centre of plate, in order to allow attachment of body and stage of microscope. Modern black label attached to mirror, reading '286'.
Circular Cu alloy eyepiece.
Spring stage used to hold slides in place, stage has ratcheting on one side.
Inner tube with screw thread for attaching stage.
Body tube with magnifying lens held at one end. Inner tube is inserted into body tube.
