Description

Simple microscope with a removable eyepiece, a base with a brass cylinder attached, and a case.

.1: The top plate is inscribed with the maker's name and a plano-convex lens pushes onto a short tube at its centre. The lateral position of the lens is adjusted by two mill-edged screws near the rear of the plate. A bar with a square cross section supports an arm with a screw-tightened collar above the lens. The height of the collar is adjusted by a screw with a double mill-edged knob below the bar.

.2: A brass cylinder stands on a weighted rectangular base. A section is cut away from the lower part of the cylinder to allow light onto the plain mirror. Near the top of the instrument two pegs protrude from slots on opposite sides of the cylinder, which control the vertical positioning of a lens held within.

.3: Case
