Description
The case is mahogany, with the accessory supports edged with blue felt. There are three brass hinges with steel screws and two brass fastening hooks at the front. The box has twelve sockets with objective lenses in cans. There are eight eyepieces each composed of two-lens systems, four Lieberkuhns, three of which have a silvered edge covered by a screw-on cap, a Sorby's parabolic reflector, a Nachet's prism, three dark wells and a brass holder for them, a brass collar with screw threads both inside and outside containing a rotatable glass disc, an achromatic condenser with a perforated diaphragm, a substage condenser with five condensing lenses, an Amici prism, a parabolic illuminator, a spot lens with darkened centre and a parabolic lens with darkened centre. There are two pieces of polarizing apparatus resembling eyepieces, a set of nine samples of various minerals in brass mountings, a blackened brass plate with three small holes for use with double image prisms, and a block of wood with central hole. Two double-image prisms in brass mountings with a selenite disc, there is a brass collar with an internal sleeve that can be moved by two double mill-edged knobs, two right-angle prisms mounted on brass pins with the largest surface uppermost, another with its largest surface at forty five degrees to the vertical and a slide-shaped metal plate painted brown with a semi-circular button of glass at its centre. In the lid of the box, are three concentric glass phials, a semi-circular glass disc mounted on a brass pin, a hemispherical glass lens, and a glass slide in a maroon leather case with gold stamping on the side carrying a crown and the maker's name in an oval.
