Description

Mahogany case with a hinged lid and a key locking mechanism. There is an unengraved oval plaque. Inside, the box is lined with blue velvet and has compartments for storing the parts of the stomach pump. Stored inside the case is a brass syringe body with an ivory handled plunger in the top and a brass lever attached to the side. The syringe has the maker's mark on its side and it has a paper label attached to it with wire. There are two ivory nozzles with brass attachments, one has a straight brass attachment the other has a right angle brass attachment. There is a hollowed wooden half-ovoid attachment with a hole in the middle. A cylindrical brass-plated tube attachment with a waved edge at one end. An ebonite ring with two straight arms with a groove near the end of each arm. A purple string-covered ceramic tube with metal attachments at each end; one of the ends has a thread to screw into another attachment, the other end is smooth. A small key for the lock on the case.
