Wooden Toy (?) Magic Lantern

Consists of two wooden compartments, the smaller of which houses a lens and shutter and a gap where the slides would have been inserted, and the larger of which would have housed a light source.  The larger compartment has rows of holes at the top and along the base.  There is a door with two hinges and a swing clasp.
