Description

Urine testing kit, manufactured by Burroughs Wellcome & Co. Kit is housed in a nickel coated metal case, with engraved manufacturer's name and name of product. This case is opened by a metal clasp. Inside the case is a fold out metal racking which can be used to hold test tubes. The kit also contains a rectangular spirit lamp with a circular screw top. Also present is a cylindrical metal tube with screw caps at either end. The case also contains a set of yellow and purple testing papers and a paper manual listing contents of the kit as well as instructions for its use. Also present are four glass tubes containing products manufactured under the 'Soloid' brand name (owned by Burroughs Wellcome), these tubes contain: 'Fehling's Test' (Cupric Sulphate and Alkaline Tartrate), 'Indigo Test' (Sodium Nitrophenylpropiolate), Potassium Ferrocyanide and Citric Acid. These tubes are stored in a metal housing within the kit's case.
