Description
Brass gyroscope in mahogany case with two brass supports. Instrument can be lifted from its gimbals so that it can be made to rotate on a small cup-shaped support that is inserted in the top of the stem of the base. This is an early example by J. B. Dancer (1812-1887), the inventor of microphotography, based on the design of Jean Foucault (1819-1868)
