Description

A flip book containing 86 small photographs. These images are animated by holding the book with one hand and rapidly flipping through its pages with the thumb of the other hand. The sequence shows a woman changing her clothes in her bedroom, helped by her maid, before a man comes to visit her.

Leon Beaulieu was one of the most famous makers of "folioscopes" in France between the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. In 1898, he patented a viewer for the "folioscope" and named it "Petit Biograph Parisien".
