Description
The pillar is fixed to the base with a hinge joint and the inclination can be fixed by tightening a screw on a telescopic rod at the back of the instrument. The cruciform stage moves on rackwork for coarse focusing and has pinholes on each of the three arms for accessories. A plane mirror is set in a horseshoe mounting on a pivoting arm attached to a collar that slides on the pillar.
The body tube designed to screw into a threaded ring (.5) which is attached to copper alloy arm which itself is screwed to the top of rectangular pillar. Fine focus is effected by a direct-action screw operating above the setting for the objective. This has been added later and the body tube can not now be removed from its support.

Collar ring designed to hold the body tube to the pillar.
