Description
Brass strip with at one end a short piece of brass chain terminating in brass pinchers with a notch to hold a coin; two sets of two steel pivots at 52 mm and 68 mm from the pivot end; and a sliding embossed brass counterweight. Strip calibrated in scales, the top two marked A and W to measure from about 10s to 36s, and on the underside two marked B and W to measure from about 37s to 72s. The balance is stored in a pasteboard case. With the balance there is a gilt coin , Victoria Regina Hanover 1837.
