Description

Monocular microscope mounted on trunnions standing on a mahogany board. A superstage condensing lens on an articulated arm is attached to the stand. The rectangular, copper alloy stage has a circular stage hole, two pinholes, two spring clips and a short cylinder attached to its underside to hold the substage accessories. The cylindrical limb has an arm supporting a sleeve into which the copper alloy body tube pushes. Coarse focusing is by sliding the body in the sleeve and fine focus is controlled by a knob on the limb near the stage. A copper alloy post extends below the stage and supports the plano-concave mirror in a horseshoe mount. The microscope folds flat against the base to fit into the wooden case. The base and case have fittings for accessories. These are two eyepieces; a Lieberkuhn with a copper alloy cover; stage forceps with a cork disk, mounted on a copper alloy plate; two objectives; forceps; an ivory wedge; an adjustable aperture; a Wenham's parabolic condenser; a dark well a Wollaston camera lucida; a specimen chamber on a copper alloy plate; a glass trough and a glass slide.
