Description

Also shows (right) the rear entrance to Exeter College and adjacent cottages, and (left) a small covered wagon, plus figures. Framed and glazed in a very nice vintage frame.

The engraver is James Basire junior, son of the more famous engraver of the same name (to whom William Blake was apprenticed). Basire and the artist Edward Dayes collaboratoed in a number of Oxord and other views from the 1790s until the latter's death in 1804.
