Gerardus Mercator and Judocus Hondius depicted seated together either side a table, holding dividers to terrestrial globes, with scientific instruments, books, and a Mercator-projection map of Europe, inside an architectural surround, with a panel below containing identifying inscriptions and their birth and death dates etc (Mercator b.1512 and Hondius d.1612). The engraving appeared from 1613 onwards in editions of Hondius's version of Mercator's Atlas, and is usually attributed to Hondius's widow Colette Hondius. In modern museum frame.
