Description

Mahogany case lined with purple velvet, with two removable drawers and storage slot in the lid and a case key. The lid contains eleven French curves. The top drawer contains various compasses comprising a beam compass, three electrum inserts, five bow pens, three spring bow compasses, two double jointed bow compasses, two dividers, triangular divider, four-part pen and pencil set, three extenders for the pens, two ivory handled pens, a road pen, an opisometer, two lengths of steel, a triangular blade and two discs with pins. The second drawer contains a circular protractor, a large set square and a small leather covered compass box containing a compass, stand and spare wire for the compass sight. The base of the box contains two chain scale rules, an architect's scale rule, two centring rules wrapped in paper, a parallel rolling rule, two rectangular protractors, an ivory sector, a disassembled beam compass, an ivory box containing spare wheels for the opisometer, box containing five pencils, a diamond like blade in a leather case, eight positioning pins, an outer sheath for a matchbox and an ivory pen stand. Used by the architects Henry and Brain Coghlan.
