Description

Daguerreotype portrait of a young woman, seated three-quarter length, turned slightly to right but looking front, in a dark bonnet and cape, her 'eft arm resting on a table. Painted backdrop of clouds and landscape. Coloured, especially backdrop and table cloth. ?Enclosed and cased.

Wooden case covered in thin wine-red leather, almost plain except for border lines on front and Sarony & Baum's logo including coat of arms gold embossed on back, with gold tooling around internal borders. Decorated dark red velvet internal pad. Plain oval mat (no frame). Two hook clasps.
