Albumen print or early gelatine print mounted on card, cabinet format. Portrait of J. G. Galle, half length, looking slightly to left. Other photographs of Galle, also associated with Bellamy, are 50479 (a version of the same photograph) and 11537 (photograph and halftone block).
Johann Gottfried Galle (1812-1910) was one of the astronomers who discovered Neptune.
